Texts and e-mails from HMRC - can I trust them?

The image may be a bit of a giveaway!

In the last 24 hours, two of my clients have received very credible texts from HMRC (apparently) telling them they are entitled to large tax rebates (>£1,800) and inviting them to click on a link.

Don't be conned by these crooks.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will never use texts or emails to:

  1. tell you about a tax rebate or penalty
  2. ask for personal or payment information
