Successive governments, Conservative, Labour and for a short term the LibDems (in coalition with the Conservatives), have over the last 30 years cut HMRC so much that it's no longer fit for purpose.
Yesterday, a client received a letter from HMRC telling her that she had
paid too little tax. Fortunately it included an explanation of why she
had paid too little tax.
